La Chole Archeological Site near to Ixtapa Zihuatanejo

While in Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo don`t miss the chance of being witness of the new Archaeological Site that is being excavated in La Soledad De Maciel ( LA CHOLE)   La Chole is just 25 minutes away from Ixtapa Zihuatanejo is a small village with 350 People and 80 Houses.

Many Artifacts has been found since 1930 but recently since 2008 the federal government has assigned archaeologist to excavate the area and report their finding and they have reported many artifacts and jewelry linked to many cultures, including the Tarascan, Aztec, Toltec and Olmec.


Some of the artifacts are in Zihuatanejo Museum of La Costa Grande but Now La Chole has his new museum and the large stone rings that were in Petatlan were moved to this new museum so people can come and admire them at this Archaeological Zone.

Next to the town there is a church with a large stone carved with petro glyphs ,we will take a short walk to the town to also visit the tobacco cigar maker and see how local people make them by hand with the tobacco this town produces.
